Job Description
What You'll Be Doing:
Leading enchanting walking tours through Terrell, sharing local ghost stories And a bit of history as it relates to the stories you tell. You must be able to do this with captivating flair.
Demonstrating and explaining our paranormal investigation equipment like a pro.
Maximize guest engagement without causing discomfort. Ensure every participant enjoys an intimate, immersive, and unique experience, regardless of whether they actively interact or receive responses.
Serving as a highly personable and approachable representative of Terrell Ghosts, quickly building trust with all our guests.
Provide a guest-centric experience that adapts to the audience, moving away from a rigid, one-size-fits-all script.
What We Look For
- Killer Charisma & Communication: You are a lively, confident storyteller who can mesmerize a crowd.
- Ready for Anything: Our tours run year-round, rain or shine. You must be eager to brave the elements and be a quick learner who can pivot gracefully when the unexpected happens (it’s a ghost tour, after all).
- The Vault: You must be willing to respectfully honor any unusual, eerie experiences guests might share and guarantee absolute anonymity and confidentiality. An open mind is a must!
- Availability: A willingness to work weekend nights is essential, though you will get to choose your own schedule.
- Bonus Points: If you are fluent in both English and Spanish, please let us know, as we hire for specific bilingual tours.
The Serious Stuff (Requirements):
- Reliable transportation is required.
- You must demonstrate reliability, dependability, and the ability to work well within a team or independently.
- Criminal Background Check: A mandatory check is required, but prior offenses aren't an automatic disqualification. We evaluate the nature and timing of the offense alongside your efforts toward restitution..
- Eventually we will ask you to provide at least three professional references who can speak to your steadfast reliability and verify your previous accomplishments in the workplace.

Compensation
- Our guides operate as independent contractors, a structure designed to empower you with ultimate flexibility. More importantly, this status grants you the creative authority to personalize each excursion, ensuring the experience remains captivating and high-spirited for both you and our guests. Tour guides can anticipate making anywhere from $40 to $300 each tour.
Earnings are commission-based, calculated through a variety of performance-driven metrics:
Your total time and experience with the team.
The volume of participants in your specific group.
Success in moving our ghostly merchandise.
Securing registrations for upcoming special events.
Digital testimonials and direct feedback provided by your audience.
You retain 100% of any and all gratuities received.
Following every eight tours, we conduct a collaborative reevaluation. We will review these key success factors together to determine if your performance justifies a boost in your commission percentage.
